Heinkel Trojan Club is no longer able to
accept credit or debit card payments after 24th April 2010
When the Club set up the
facility to accept payment by credit and debit cards the processing firm
charged £20 plus Vat per month for the rental of the card authorising
machine and 4% of the transaction value. The directors accepted that the
Club should accept the rental of the processing machine as a cost to the
Club while the members covered the cost of the transaction charge. A few
years ago the card processing company introduced a minimum monthly
processing charge of £20 this they will increase to £30 with effect from 1st
June 2010. The average monthly spend by members on credit cards is less
than £150 which means the annual cost to the Club of continuing to provide
the facility for members is around £600 or nearly 20% of membership
subscription! This the directors feel is unacceptable and the required
notice has been given to the card processing company.
The Club will continue to
accept payment by PayPal. PayPal is now able to offer the facility to any
person who has a credit/debit card or bank account and an e-mail address to
make payments to the Club in GB Pounds from any country in the world. (www.PayPal.co.uk).
With the PayPal system there are no standing charges to the Club.
Alternatively payments can be made directly to the Club’s bank account but
this can be expensive for overseas members as it involves currency
conversion charges and it may be more economical to use PayPal.
The UK banking industry is
aiming to abolish cheque payments by 2018 but have agreed not to do so until
suitable alternative payment methods are in place so none computerised UK
members are OK for the present!
Any members who has
difficulty in making payments to the Club should contact Paula Fisher, the
Club Treasurer, who will do every thing she can to assist.
The
Heinkel Trojan Club caters for owners and enthusiasts of Heinkel Trojan Bubblecars, built
in Germany, Ireland, Argentina and England between 1955 and 1964, and Heinkel Scooters
built in Germany between 1953 and 1965.
